Zagreb, 16-17 January

Algebra University played host to a regular DIVERSE alliance of European universities meeting held on January 16th and 17th in Zagreb.

During the meeting, the partners of the DIVERSE alliance of European universities discussed the intensification of collaboration in the area of higher education, research and development aimed at contributing to economic development and European competitiveness on the global level, as well as the societal developments at the regional, national and European levels.

The concept around which the partners are developing collaboration is known as venture science – a multidisciplinary approach in which scientific research activities are directed towards finding concrete scientific and technological solutions to the problems of contemporary society. The challenges for which the gathered partner institutions will develop solutions within their long-term collaboration primarily concern sustainable economic growth through circular economy, lifelong learning and personal and social well-being.

Another focus of the Zagreb meeting was the examining of the existing student mobility pathways between the partner institutions and the initiating of new collaborative activities aimed at mobility promotion, as one of the important goals of the DIVERSE alliance of European universities is to promote the mobility of students and staff between partner higher education institutions. Within the mobility promotion scheme of the partner institutions, a special emphasis will be placed on innovative forms of collaboration such as blended intensive programmes (BIP) within the Erasmus+ programme and collaborative online international learning (COIL).

The next joint meeting was agreed to take place in May, during the international mobility week in Santander, Spain.
