More information
Griffith College participates in this and other projects referred to below through the GBS Hub. The project focuses on enhancing awareness, understanding and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medical curricula and practice. AI is poised to reshape health care, improving both clinician and patient experiences. Studies reveal a notable lack of awareness, confidence, and utilisation of AI in the medical field. Despite the rapid advancement of AI in all sectors, there is still a lag in healthcare. Several inconsistencies require further exploration; for instance, data scientists involved in training algorithms for medical applications typically receive general education in data science, lacking specialisation in medicine. This can lead to flawed, biased, or unreliable AI-powered solutions. The integration of AI into educational programmes has not yet been achieved, whether such programmes be conventional university curricula or lifelong learning initiatives for healthcare practitioners. Griffith College is leading the work package of this project, focused on outreach to build a healthcare community of practice around AI. This project aims to address these inconsistencies and create an open space for inclusive dialogue. Our goal is to build healthcare communities focused on integrating AI in a meaningful way.
