Griffith College

Established in 1974, by Profesor Diarmuid Hegarty, Griffith College is Ireland’s largest independent third-level institution with locations in Dublin, Cork and Limerick. The Dublin campus is on an historic site, its buildings dating back to 1813.

Griffith College enjoys a national and a growing international reputation for student success. The College offers internationally recognised postgraduate and undergraduate degree programmes, complemented by a wide range of professional, short term and corporate training programmes. Today, over 7,000 students are studying in the College. Griffith is noted for the strength of its international network of university partners, with learners from over 120 countries studying at the college. The college has an alumni community of over 40,000 graduates. Over the past 50 years, nearly 1,000 students have won prizes in national and international competitions, competing against students from all higher education institutions in Ireland. This includes first in the world of accountancy students numbering over 542,000 among 178 countries.

The EU Research and Innovation Hub in Griffith College (GBS Hub) has a team of dedicated researchers. It has worked closely with alliance partner Algebra University on EU calls. The Hub has research interests in Digitalisation, Sustainability and Entrepreneurship. It supports multiple Irish start-ups launching innovative products, including student entrepreneurs as part of EU-funded research and innovation initiatives.

2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the College’s founding. Over the past half century, Griffith has made a significant contribution to third-level education in Ireland. Many former students have gone on to distinguished careers in Ireland and internationally, in fields as diverse as accountancy, business, computing, design, fashion, interior architecture, engineering, healthcare, hospitality, law, film, media, teaching and learning, music and drama.
