About
The Ohm is an important contributor to the technological and economic strength of the Metropolitan Region Nuremberg through training, research and transfer. Application-driven education and research take place in cooperation with regional, national and international partners from business, science, culture and politics. Innovative teaching and learning methods and concepts are developed, implemented and researched. The Ohm’s applied research is driven by seven overarching research themes: energy & resources; materials & production engineering; health; digitalisation & artificial intelligence; sustainability; social & economic transformation; mobility, transport, logistics. Inter- and multidisciplinary research and technological development activities are mainly carried out in 9 institutes, 8 competence centres, 2 Fraunhofer research groups and 3 cooperative research platforms, supported by about 150 well-equipped laboratories in the Ohm’s Faculties.
The Ohm sees diversity as an opportunity and values an open approach to diversity. The Ohm offers attractive study opportunities for students from a wide variety of backgrounds. For example, 55% of students come from families without any academic background, around 5% of students have children, 11% are international students, and 6% are individuals with German vocational qualifications without a conventional university entrance qualification.
