DIVERSE has participated in the first face-to-face meeting of the HER TECH project, an Erasmus+ co-funded initiative aimed at reducing the gender gap in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector through the development of a gender-sensitive educational framework and the formulation of policy recommendations that promote more inclusive learning environments.
This initiative brings together universities from seven european countries: Croatia, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Italy, Ireland and Germany. Among them are DIVERSE member institutions Technische Hochschule Rosenheim, representing Germany, Griffith College, representing Ireland, and Algebra University, representing Croatia, which also acts as the project coordinator
During this initial in-person meeting, project partners defined the main research methods and working strategies to be implemented over the coming months, with the aim of increasing the participation of women and young people in the technology sector at European level. The meeting laid the foundations for a collaboration focused on removing institutional, socio-economic and cultural barriers that continue to limit women’s access to ICT studies and careers.
More about the HER TECH project
Running from March 2025 to February 2028, HER TECH, project aims to carry out a comprehensive analysis of existing initiatives, design gender-sensitive engagement strategies, develop innovative training materials and online learning modules, as well as dedicated resources for teacher training. In addition, HER TECH seeks to establish a european community of educators, policymakers, researchers and technology sector stakeholders committed to gender equality in the digital domain.
In the short and long term, the project aims to generate a significant impact both at individual level—by empowering girls and women to consider careers in ICT—and at institutional and policy levels, by providing concrete tools to challenge stereotypes, drive structural change and contribute to a more diverse and inclusive digital future in Europe.
Through the active participation of member universities such as Algebra University, Griffith College and Technische Hochschule Rosenheim, DIVERSE reinforces its commitment to educational innovation, European cooperation and the promotion of equal opportunities in higher education and digital training.
