DIVERSE universities present microcredential cooperation model at MMC 2026

Universities from the DIVERSE alliance, Sveučilište Algebra Bernays and Hogeschool PXL, participated in MMC 2026, an international event focused on microcredentials and aimed at experts in educational technology (EdTech).

During the event, representatives from the alliance presented DIVERSE’s cooperation model for the development and recognition of microcredentials, designed to harmonise the different educational systems and regulatory frameworks across the alliance’s 12 institutions in 11 countries. The model seeks to facilitate effective transnational collaboration while ensuring quality, transparency and mutual recognition among partner institutions.

To support this objective, the alliance has developed three cooperation approaches for the creation and delivery of microcredentials. The first allows a microcredential to be developed by a single institution while aligning with the common standards defined by the alliance. The second introduces collaborative models in which institutions work together while maintaining shared recognition of the credential. The third approach involves fully co-designed and co-delivered microcredentials, developed jointly by multiple partner institutions.

Discussions at MMC 2026 also addressed several strategic topics shaping the future of digital education in Europe, including trust in digital credentials, the portability of skills across countries, and the growing role of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in transforming education and training systems.

Organised by the Knowledge Innovation Centre, MMC continues to play a key role in shaping the European dialogue on microcredentials by bringing together policy perspectives, technological innovation and educational practice.
