The Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL), a member of the DIVERSE Alliance, successfully organised the 12th Annual Conference on International Studies (CESRAN 2025) from 1 to 5 July 2025, bringing together academics, researchers, and policy makers from around the world to discuss pressing global challenges.
Over the course of five days, 112 researchers from 50 countries participated in 17 academic panels, addressing topics such as the redefinition of the international system, inherited conflicts, emerging power dynamics, global security challenges, the role of media, and transnational mobility.
CESRAN 2025 was supported by international partners, who actively contributed to defining the programme and promoting the conference internationally. These included: the Universidad Europea del Atlántico, also a member of DIVERSE; OBSERVARE; Ca’ Foscari University of Venice; University of Minho; Tbilisi State University; University of Macau; Bursa Uludağ University and Jacob of Paradise University.
The programme included 17 academic panels and keynote speeches by Prof. Richard Hu (University of Macau) and Prof. Luis Tomé (UAL), who analysed ‘The Trump Administration 2.0 and the Transformation of the World Order’. The conference was held in a hybrid format, with face-to-face sessions in Lisbon and online broadcasting, thus allowing for broad international participation and an enriching academic exchange.
CESRAN 2025 reaffirms the commitment of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa and the alliance to research, academic cooperation and critical analysis of global challenges.
