Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) is a form of virtual exchange or telecollaboration that enables faculty from any discipline to use online tools to foster sustained student collaboration. The main goal is to enhance intercultural competence. While COIL traditionally connects participants across national borders, it is equally effective for facilitating intercultural experiences where face-to-face interaction is not feasible.
