Exploring the future of Computer Science in the age of Artificial Intelligence at Griffith College

Students and staff from Technische Hochschule Rosenheim, a partner institution within the DIVERSE alliance, recently visited Griffith College as part of an Erasmus+ exchange initiative aimed at fostering international cooperation and academic excellence.

The visit began with an introduction to Griffith College and its Faculty of Computing Science, providing participants with an overview of the institution’s academic environment and educational approach. This was followed by an engaging academic session with Dr Waseem Akhtar, who led a discussion on emerging technologies, the rapidly evolving IT industry landscape, and the transformation of Computer Science in the age of Artificial Intelligence. The session encouraged critical reflection on how higher education must adapt to keep pace with technological change and the growing demand for digital skills.

As part of the programme, participants also had the opportunity to engage directly with industry through visits to major international companies based in Dublin, including AWS, Salesforce, Siemens Healthineers, and Intercom. These visits offered valuable insights into the practical application of cutting-edge technologies, as well as a deeper understanding of current industry trends, innovation processes, and career pathways in the digital sector.

This exchange represents a strong example of the added value of Erasmus+ mobility within the DIVERSE alliance, reinforcing collaboration between partner institutions while bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world practice. It also highlights the importance of interdisciplinary and international experiences in preparing students for a rapidly changing, technology-driven global environment.
