SMK College of Applied Sciences hosted its International Staff Week 2026 – “Already Changed, Still Changing: Higher Education and AI” – in Vilnius, Lithuania, in October 2026.
The event brought together academic and administrative staff from European higher education institutions to exchange experiences and explore how artificial intelligence is already shaping higher education and how its role may continue to evolve.
Throughout the week, participants discussed the practical, ethical and institutional aspects of AI in higher education through lectures, experience-sharing sessions and the open event “AI-Ready Universities: From Ethics to Practice.”
The International Staff Week also provided an opportunity for participants to share institutional practices, experiences and challenges related to AI, while fostering mutual learning and professional networking among higher education professionals.
Alongside the programme, participants had the opportunity to discover Lithuania and its cultural heritage, including Vilnius Old Town and the historic town of Trakai.
As part of DIVERSE, events such as this contribute to creating spaces for exchange and collaboration between higher education institutions and their communities.Thank you to SMK College of Applied Sciences for hosting this International Staff Week and providing a valuable opportunity for European higher education professionals to exchange experiences, share perspectives and explore the evolving role of AI in higher education.
