Representatives from the twelve universities that make up the DIVERSE alliance met from January 21 to 23 at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK), on the Pori campus, to review the alliance’s main achievements and continue strengthening international academic cooperation.
The meeting began on Wednesday 21 with a welcome dinner hosted by SAMK at the historic Old Pori Town Hall, an iconic city venue that served as the first gathering point for participants.
The working sessions opened with a welcome address by SAMK President Jari Multisilta, who highlighted the importance of collaboration in building a better future and stronger universities. This was followed by a live music performance by the band called The Rector and the Deans, which created a warm and engaging atmosphere.
During the meetings, key issues for the development of the alliance were discussed, including micro-credentials, joint degree programmes, the progress of ongoing master’s programmes, and strategic aspects related to communication. The main achievements of DIVERSE in the area of learning and teaching were also presented, along with the work carried out by the different working groups and advances in interoperability.
In addition to the formal sessions, participants had the opportunity to experience Finnish culture first-hand through traditional activities such as the sauna and ice swimming, an unforgettable experience for many, as well as sharing a dinner in a relaxed setting.
These days of work were marked by the exchange of experiences, the generation of new ideas and the definition of future lines of action. Such meetings foster the sharing of good practices and the development of joint initiatives in the fields of teaching, research and innovation, with the aim of generating impact and adding value to higher education activities.
